Sentinels: The Piñon Pine and Juniper Trees of Bears Ears and Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monuments, Utah.

This project documents piñon pine and juniper tree forest adaptation to rapidly increasing aridification in the deserts of the American Southwest. The project joins field observation, woodcut printing, and creative essay writing to make ecological change specific and human scaled.
